Question guide

Is Perplexity better than Google?

When a cited research assistant is the better first stop than a general search page — without a fake winner.

Short answer: Perplexity is better as a first draft of sources for a research question. Google is still the better place to open the actual page, check freshness, and run navigational searches. They are not substitutes.

Use Perplexity first when

  • You need a cited starting set of pages for a specific question
  • You want a synthesis you will then verify in the linked sources
  • You are comparing two documented product claims

Stay in Google when

  • You already know the site you want
  • You need local results, shopping, or a login page
  • The answer depends on a page that was updated today

Official pricing stance

Perplexity publishes free access plus paid individual and organization plans. The last official consumer-plan check did not expose current Pro or Max dollar prices on the reviewed public pages. An official organization-onboarding article listed Enterprise Pro at $40/seat monthly or $400/seat annually. Verify the Perplexity review and Perplexity’s current pricing page before buying.
